i thought that was obvious considering the outfits. but they did a good job using Balam as a red herring.

If I may intercede here, personally I respectfully disagree, If one is cunning/intelligent enough, one should and could easily be able to avoid an NTR situation.

I mean think about it, used in this context, "cunning" is another word similar in meaning to that of "clever", "wily", or "crafty". Therefore if we substitute any of those words, we can say that if we/one is clever enough one can easily be multiple steps ahead of any situation in which one is the subject of, OR a partaker in NTR.

I mean, it's quite sincerely a matter of making wise choices and being able to accurately predict possible futures among other things and then to effectively employ that knowledge in a way that benefits your desired outcome.

A clever person could flip an NTR on it's head and make it work for them, or recognize it as a possibility before engaging in a relationship with the future individual and thus avoid it completely. Knowledge is power, and effective utilization of knowledge is one way to become empowered.
